Jack Johnson is one of the many singer/songwriters of our time. Along with his music, Johnson enjoys surfing, filmmaking, and is an environmentalist. Johnson grew up on the Hawaiian islands until he turned 18, at which point he left the islands to study filmmaking at the University of California in Santa Barbara.

Once graduating in 1997, Johnson took a year long trip around the world to film his first movie, Thicker Than Water. The movie is a documentary about the lives of surfers, for surfers. Johnson did not only film the movie, but he was also in it and composed the original score.

Jack Johnson is most commonly known for his music. Many people listen to his music because of the bluesy acoustic style. His music is also positive, earnest, and mellow. Johnson also enjoys playing his guitar along with his singing.

Before he even found his talent for filmmaking and singing, Johnson was a pro surfer. His interest in surfing started when he was just a toddler. By the time Johnson was 17 he was a champion surfer and accomplished athlete on the Pipeline with the sponsorship of Quiksilver.

Jack Johnson is clearly an accomplished artist. Between his singing, writing, filmmaking, and surfing, Johnson is one of the few celebrities to accomplish such achievements. Although Johnson is not recognized as much as some celebrities, he is still one of the most down to earth, mellow celebrities out there.
